ORSD LIFE PLAN Senior Meetings
This past week, Mr. Jerry Strasner and Mrs.Tammy Young met with seniors at Acorn High School & Oden High School to discuss this year’s Student Success & Life Plan events and activities for seniors. With student success planning at Ouachita River School District, each grade level (6-12) will participate in specific activities that will build on each year to help students be prepared and/or better prepared for life and be successful in each domain area: career, academic, and personal/social emotional development.
Ouachita River School District exists to provide a safe, caring environment where everyone learns and grows in order to be prepared for life.

AHS Students Learn About Careers with Electric Cooperatives in Arkansas
On Monday, October 3rd, John Larucci from Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative met with Acorn High School juniors and seniors interested in careers with an Arkansas Electric Cooperative. Mr. Larucci serves as Member Services/Safety Coordinator/Engineer for Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative. He gave an overview of various occupations and opportunities for students to pursue upon graduation in this career field that included but not limited to the following: powerline maintenance, information technology, engineering, business systems, and careers from other technical specialties. In the presentation, he also discussed some of the environmental situations that employees work in including post-disaster support and restoration.

Schedule Change for upcoming Cross-Country Meet

AHS Band & Choir students will be presenting Fall "Fun"D Concert on October 7th @ 7 PM.

Nineteen Acorn FCCLA members and their adviser attended FCCLA Region VI Leadership Training today at Lake Hamilton. Students participated in hands on training to grow their leadership skills and learn more about running for office. Members networked with other students from across Region VI. Kora Carter and Damon Cruz helped facilitate the training. Before leaving, they were able to grab a picture with Region VI President and former Acorn FCCLA member, Colten Quebedeaux.

Acorn High School Construction Technology Instructor Ricky Dollar is overseeing and facilitating a practicum project on the Acorn School’s campus with students enrolled in this Career and Technical Education Pathway - Agriculture: Construction Technology. Students are refurbishing a storage building on the Acorn campus and putting their skills to the test.
